Our in-house cafeteria is the central meeting place in our GFO Center Langenfeld - Wohnen & Pflege St. Katharina. It is accessible at all times and invites you to linger in comfort. Many of our leisure activities take place in the cafeteria. The ambience and the space offer the possibility for many different offers and events.
Before moving into an inpatient care facility, there are many things for relatives and future residents to consider and arrange. We have therefore compiled a CHECKLIST to provide you with assistance and orientation. If you would like further information or have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our EMPLOYEES personally.
Quality in nursing is also based on compliance with so-called expert standards. These quality instruments are developed by recognized experts and reflect the current state of knowledge in the profession. Our social services team regularly organizes parties, celebrations, outings and entertaining events. In doing so, our employees always take into account the wishes and needs of our residents. Well-groomed and healthy feet contribute to well-being. Stefanie Thieliant performs medical foot care in GFO Center Langenfeld. We help with making appointments. The services can be used comfortably in your own room without our residents:inside having to leave the house. Appointments can be made at the following telephone number: 0173/7039755.

We receive support from the SAPV Mettmann palliative care service in the care of the seriously and terminally ill as well as in grief counseling.
Our GFO Center Langenfeld - Wohnen & Pflege St. Katharina attaches great importance to climate protection. Within the scope of our possibilities, we constantly examine the use of sustainable products and technology.
Energy-saving lighting, the purchase of three e-rickshaws, our own bee colonies and insect-friendly planting are just a few examples of our work.
Our commitment to climate protection was rewarded in 2020 with the environmental award of the city of Langenfeld.
When purchasing bakery products, we use regional suppliers to avoid long transport routes.
Meals at the GFO Center Langenfeld are tailored to the needs of the residents. A changing menu as well as the possibility to choose from different dishes provides for variety. Of course, dietetic food is taken into account.
All dishes are prepared from high-quality and fresh ingredients according to the latest nutritional science findings. The particularly gentle processing of food, in combination with optimal cooking times, ensures a range of meals rich in vitamins and nutrients.
Lunch is provided by our partner Gourmetplan This is a cook & chill process. The food is delivered chilled daily and cooked on immediately, so there is no standing time. The food is hot, looks delicious, tastes good, and most importantly, the healthy vitamins are preserved.
A person is considered to be in need of care if he or she is no longer able to look after him or herself independently due to age, illness or disability. In Germany, a wide variety of assistance systems are then in place. As a rule, people in need of care and their relatives are then also entitled to graduated financial support. To this end, the legislator has installed a system of care guarantees.
Since the reform of the classification and assessment of care needs in 2017, five care grades now apply (they have replaced the previous three care grades). Care grade 1 denotes the lowest level with the least need for support, while care grade 5 denotes the maximum level of assistance required for people in need of care. The five care levels are used as a basis for the financial benefits provided by payers, in particular the long-term care insurance fund.
Classification into care grades is based on six criteria, known as modules:
Module 1 "Mobility": the assessor looks at physical mobility. For example, can the person get up on his or her own and walk from the bed to the bathroom? Can he or she move around independently within his or her own four walls, is climbing stairs possible?
Module 2 "Mental and communicative abilities: This area covers understanding and talking. For example: Can the person concerned orient himself in time and space? Does he or she understand facts, recognize risks and can he or she hold conversations with other people?
Module 3 "Behavioral and psychological problems": This includes restlessness at night or fears and aggression, which are stressful for the person in need of care, but also for their relatives. This is also taken into account if there are defensive reactions to nursing measures.
Module 4 "Self-care": For example, can the applicant wash and dress him/herself, can he/she go to the toilet independently and eat and drink?
Module 5 "Dealing independently with requirements and stresses caused by illness or therapy - and coping with them": The assessor looks at whether the person concerned can, for example, take medication him/herself, measure blood sugar independently, use aids such as prostheses or a walker, and see a doctor.
Module 6 "Shaping everyday life and social contacts": For example, can the person concerned organize his or her daily routine independently? Can he or she come into direct contact with other people or go to the skat club without help?

The price for a place in a nursing home is made up of several components. This is stipulated by law. These include the care itself, costs of room and board, and investment costs. The monthly costs are made up of these components and vary depending on the region and the home.
If residents are unable to cover the costs from their own resources, they can apply for "assistance with care" (according to § 61 SGB XII). In principle, every person in need of care is entitled to this assistance.

Our social service is a specialized service for consultation, mediation, networking and coordination.
The team has the task of maintaining and increasing the quality of life of our residents in close consultation with all areas of our home. In order to achieve this, a variety of group and individual activities are offered. In addition to recurring offers, the team is always oriented to the seasons and the church year. The social service team consists of social workers, support staff and interns.

In addition, there are various projects or excursions.
The purpose of the Housing and Participation Act in NRW (WTG) is to protect the dignity, rights, interests and needs of people who use housing and care services for older people or people in need of care and people with disabilities from impairment, to positively shape the framework conditions for care and nursing staff and to ensure compliance with the obligations incumbent on service providers. It is intended to guarantee elderly people or people in need of care and people with disabilities a self-determined life, to support their participation and co-determination, to promote transparency about the design and quality of care services, and to contribute to better cooperation between all responsible authorities. This is the opening text of the WTG of NRW.
Our facilities are also subject to the WTG. In the regular inspections, we have to demonstrate that we comply with all regulations.
